As the leading specialist centre for cardiovascular disease, we are committed to stay abreast of medical advancements. This is evident in our numerous ‘firsts’ including the first heart transplant in Singapore in 1990, the first radiofrequency catheter ablation procedure in Singapore and ASEAN in 1991 and the first left ventricular assist device implantation in Singapore and Southeast Asia in 2001, to mention a few.

The National Heart Centre Singapore became the first heart hospital outside USA and in Asia to receive the prestigious Joint Commission International (JCI) accreditation in October 2005 and has been re-accredited in 2008. Availability of High-End Treatment Modalites
At the National Heart Centre Singapore, we offer beyond the common management strategies of medical management, coronary angioplasties and coronary bypass surgeries. Our depth in clinical expertise has paved the way for the availability of various high-end treatment modalities at the centre. Among these include our heart and lung transplant programme, mechanical heart assist device programme, Extra-Corporeal Membrane Oxygenator (ECMO) in patients with acute heart failure and cardiogenic shock as a resuscitative measure, robotic-assisted minimally invasive cardiothoracic surgery, complex atrial fibrillation ablation and percutaneous aortic valve replacement procedures.
